Many of you, though, will already be familiar with the basics of SketchUp and want to take your modeling skills to the next level. While the tools that come with the software are useful for most everyday tasks, anyone who has used SketchUp for more than a few days will know that there are a plethora of plugins out there that facilitate amazingly complex forms and ingenious time-saving processes.

Among its many functions, this hugely useful plugin enables you to create an array along a path. A series of components can be quickly placed in a predefined arrangement, perfect for balustrades like the one shown above. A full tutorial can be found here, and you can download the plugin here.

One of the most ingenious plugins on this list, Helix Along Curve enables you to create helix tubing along a predefined path. When combined with Bezier Spline and Component Stringer add-ons, you can also model a perfect chain with individual links. A full tutorial on constructing the form above is available here, and you can download the Helix Along Curve plugin here.

Simply add a face to your section plane with this useful plugin. The face can be quickly modified, changing its color for presentation purposes, and it can also be set to update automatically as you edit your model. The add-on can be downloaded here.

When combined with the QuadFaceTools plugin, SubD can be used to produce curvilinear volumes like the one shown above with clean, rationalized subdivisions. This is helpful when modeling complex domes and parametric shells. SubD can be downloaded here, while QuadFaceTools can be found here.

If the Plugins menu is missing, that means that you have no active plugins that need that menu item. To test, open SketchUp and click Window > Extension Warehouse. Search for the [ Example Ruby Scripts ], and install that plugin. You'll need a Google Account to download and install plugins from the Extension Warehouse. To create a new Google Account, feel free to visit this page. You don't need to have/create a Gmail email address to create a new Google Account. You can use any email address, but be sure to select the option "I prefer to use my current email address".

No matter of uninstall or delete appdata will resolve the loading issues with these plugins. When deleted, the offending plugins always re-appear in the appdata folder as soon as sketchup is restarted.

IMPORTANT: please upgrade to Skecthucation ExtensionStore v4.2.5. Earlier versions may show issues with plugin installation on Windows (unzip error) and for licensing on old version of Mac OS (10.13 and 10.14)

Its open source library helped the software to provide a wide range of 3D objects, while hundreds of users developed their own plugins not only to solve the problems of each version but also to exploit the potential of their tools.

Created by ThomThom, this plugin solves one of Sketchup's major shortcomings: its trouble working with non-flat quad surfaces. With Quad Face Tool we create figures with continuous edges as topographies or, as we see in the GIF that accompanies this description, give a much more real surface to a helmet that was originally reticulated. Yes, there is a Youtube tutorial!

In 2012, Google sold Sketchup to Trimble Navigation. Although this case is not a plugin, it is a good example of the positive synergy Sketchup achieved with Google: the "Location" tool allows you to choose the satellite image of the place your project is going to end up by entering an exact address in Google Maps. Then, with a click, you can replicate the actual topography of that location. Very useful.

Created by CPhillips, this plugin allows you to create an invisible control cage around an object. What does that mean? It is a mesh defined by a series of control points in its vertices and edges that let you manipulate the dimensions of a selected object. The GIF that accompanies this description uses the example of a diagrid mesh transformed into a bowl by adjusting the lower points or into a vase if you adjust the upper points. Highly recommended tutorial here.Download here.

Created by Chris Fullmer, this plugin allows you to replicate a component onto a surface. As in previous cases, when editing the base component, the rest are automatically updated. Highly recommended for designing parameterized façades.Download here.

Created by Fredo6, this plugin generates parameterized volumes when selecting a series of curves on a 3D model. Once created, it offers nine different possibilities, including the possibility to redefine its final thickness. Very useful for designing furniture.Download here.

Here, we will give you a list of handy SketchUp plugins that will get things done better and faster. Moreover, they can help you with developing some really creative designs, and they are all available for free. We will tell you first, though, how to install a plugin on the latest version of SketchUp.

This has led to the creation of some ultra-imaginative tools, which have grown and developed over the years to make the platform what it is today. This list contains our pick of some of the best SketchUp plugins for architects. Read on to know more!

This hugely useful plugin created by Fredo6 is an easy-to-use modeling tool with a parametric bend. Additionally, it can produce nine different possibilities, which can be formulated from a set of pre-selected curved lines.

The next item on our list is similar to the Mirror command in AutoCAD and is efficient for symmetric models and parts. Not only is this plugin easy to use, but it also allows one to opt for the mirror plane and choose to keep the original or delete it once the operation is done.

The Quadface Tools plugin by ThomThom helps the user deal with non-planar surfaces. Also, it aids work with furniture design, topographies, and form-based conceptual models. For example, it can be used to give a proper, realistic surface to a reticulated helmet.

Now, we have the plugin by Kirill B, which performs the same function as an Array in AutoCAD. Moreover, it renders 3D radial or rectilinear patterns from selected elements, and you can use it to model a spiral staircase. The only thing that needs to be done is to model the initial two steps.

In addition to that, the rest of the components will get automatically updated while you edit the base. Overall, it is highly functional and can be used to design parameterized façades. Interestingly, this plugin generates parameterized volumes, too.

Developed by SLBaumgartner, this free and easy-to-use plugin displays the angles between surfaces. For using the plugin, start it from the Tools/Angular dimension 2/Draw menu, or from its own toolbar, or by assigning a keyboard shortcut. Then, one must pick three points to define the angle they want to dimension.

With default settings, the radius of the dimension arc will be the distance between first and second pick points, but this can be overridden in settings. This plugin also detects whether SketchUp is using a dot or a comma as a decimal separator and adjusts the settings accordingly.

Edge Tools is a free plugin by ThomThom that is helpful for working with maps and plans sourced from AutoCAD. The tool detects open ends, lowers the number of segments, and helps in closing smaller gaps.

Created by 3dalbertsoft, this plugin lets the user select a predefined shape and a curve to make a helical turbine. Then a dialog box enables the user to choose multiple parameters to make the ultimate shape.

In addition to that, the plugin allows the user to fully customize parameters for adapting the tree to their requirements from one configuration window. One can change between Skeleton proxies (ghosts) and 3D trees to minimize the size of the tree models and work with SketchUp simultaneously. Once the final render is needed, you can switch to high poly 3D.

This software is very useful for everyday work and it also has a plethora of plugins that helps the users to analyze the complex form of modeling and save money and time of the users.

By using this software users are able to create complex form from gridded surfaces. This tool adds a control edge to a specific object. it also helps the users to create domes, arches, free flowing organic shapes which is constructed from wave elements. This plugin added into SketchUp by CPhillips.

By using this tool users are also able for creating an array along a path. It also able to place a set of elements in a stipulated arrangement. This tool also has tutorial video in website. Users can watch this. CadFather add the tool in SketchUp. This plugin added into SketchUp by CadFather.

The following SketchUp plugins are used in various processes and created by experts to make the SketchUp tool more attractive and helpful for architects and designers. They can now use Google locations also to create an appropriate design, the view, basic points and finishing would be easier.

It is a very practical modeling software from basic to advanced level. When you first download SketchUp, you can do basic modeling with the original tools that you can use by default. SketchUp, which has a sufficient number of basic tools for architectural 3D modeling, also has extensions that can be added later. You can download plugins that will increase your level in 3D modeling online via Extension Ware House. There are extensions that will save your time and allow you to create better models.
